'Please, I can't breathe'

'Please, I can't breathe' were the last words of George Floyd. Five words that once again gave a horrific wake-up call to the world.

Five words that brought back to light that having a different skin colour is being considered a crime.

Such as the case of the migrants in Malta being left out at sea and drown. Or a guy going back home in the

Middle of the night after watching a football match and shot just for the fact that he is dark-skinned.

People that nowadays are considered veterans within the Hip Hop scene in Malta understand pretty well what discrimination means. Being beaten for wearing baggie trousers or having your hard-earned cap stolen just because.

The use of force on the weak is always bad and this results in anger, frustration and yes, as a result, a complete outcry of violence.

Abuse of power by economic and political forces is always wrong and yes we need to speak out about it if we truly believe that we represent the streets we come from.

In Malta is no exception being violence or corruption it all ends down that the hard-working, law-abiding citizen suffers and has to pay.

Maybe it's not physical violence but for sure it's psychological when one needs to measure each and every cent till the end of the month even though he and/or she work full time and maybe even a part-time.
